A handy accessory is The POD (specifically the BLACK or SILVER model). Great for a shot from a table top, the floor, a tree branch, a fence post (you get the idea). Moving the tripod plate to the back might help screwing into the orphaned T-nut underneath. You can also use the straps provided or just lay the mulTplate on The POD keeping your hand on the camera for security.

A monopod (especially one with a rotatable foot)
along with the mulTplate has proven to be a great combination. With the resting plate against your shoulder you can do very smooth moves with effectively three points of support (so who needs a tripod anymore). |

The Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapter w/Sliding Mounting Plate is a really cool accessory. I attach the Sliding Mounting Plate to the bottom of the mulTplate and then screw the Rapid Connect Adapter to my Satchler tripod plate. The top photo simulates the two parts fitting together. The bottom photo shows a Satchler tripod head being converted with the Rapid Connect Adapter to accept the Sliding Mounting Plate. So now when I want to move from my Manfrotto unipod to my non-Manfrotto tripod it is just snap out and snap in. |
